2012: Sat out for the season with a redshirt... will compete for the starting catcher job in 2013.
2011: Was the team’s backup catcher and played in 14 games, making three starts... batted .375 with six hits and two runs batted in... hit an RBI double against St. Bonaventure (4/12)... went 2-3 with a run scored in a 3-2 win over Le Moyne (5/9)... had a .850 OPS and a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in 26 chances.
Previous School: Played at catcher for Catonsville Community College for two seasons under head coach Dan Blue... won the CCBC Scholar Athlete Award.
High School: Played for Maryland high school powerhouse DeMatha Catholic, ranked number one in Maryland and number three in the Mid-Atlantic Region during his time with the team... two-time member of the WCAC All Conference team... earned preseason MSABC All-State honors and was a member of the All Southeastern Baseball Tournament team... also was a highly decorated ice hockey player, winning both the Hobey Baker and Brett Crowell Awards.
Personal: Born March 20, 1990... son of Tracey Jiron and has one brother, Kyle... will major in Biomedical Sciences with the hope of becoming a pediatric oncologist... enjoys fishing and going to the beach... favorite athlete is Ivan Rodriguez... his greatest athletic experience was winning state championships in hockey and baseball in his senior year... the person he admires most is his mother Tracey.
