Title IX states, “No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.” Yet despite its broad aims and applications, Title IX is most known for its impact on expanding opportunities for women and girls in sport.
Women’s empowerment is limitless; at UB, we support and promote a women’s sense of self-worth, their ability to determine their own choices and their right to influence social change for themselves and others. Through sport, we aim to defy stereotypes and social norms, create inspiring role models, and help women attain success in life beyond sport.
NGWSD – join us February 4, 2023 as we celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day (#LeadHerForward). Our annual event will be held in conjunction with our women’s basketball game vs. Northern Illinois. This annual event held nationwide recognizes student-athletes, champion athletes, coaches, administrators, and lawmakers committed to providing equitable access to sports for all girls and women.
