MISSION STATEMENT
The Office of Student-Athlete Wellness is focused on providing a holistic wellness education model for our student-athletes. The well-being of our student-athletes is our top priority, and as such, our programming and education offered aligns with this priority. Services are provided through one-on-one meetings, team or group sessions and workshops, coach and staff education, and online educational tools.
Topics included in our wellness education platform include, but are not limited to: Stress and anxiety management, mindfulness training, sleep hygiene, nutrition services, self-esteem and body image education, alcohol and other drug education, violence prevention and bystander intervention education, as well as mental, emotional and behavioral health.Also included under the umbrella of wellness education services is our mental skills training program. This includes workshops, individual and team sessions, and value based coaching education. Mental skills or peak performance skills training includes a variety of skill development pieces such as confidence building, self-talk training, goal setting, imagery/visualization, focus training, athletic identity education, performance anxiety management, team and group dynamics, and communication/conflict management. The Office of Student-Athlete Wellness participates collaboratively across campus with various University at Buffalo offices, as well as utilizing resources in the WNY community. |
