Cross Country Starts Season at St. John Fisher Rodenbeck Invite on Friday

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo cross country program begins the 2026 season this Friday at St. John Fisher University's Rodenbeck Invite. The program returns to the season-opening meet where the women took first place in 2025.
The Buffalo women begin the year with nine returners and one newcomer. In 2025, the women's team had their best placement at MAC Championships since 2017. Bronagh Cassidy led the program, finishing 23rd with a 6k time of 21:28.5. At NCAA Northeast regionals, Vassi Klock led the team, placing 54th of 241 runners with a time of 20:59.6. The Bulls placed 18th of 37 teams.
The Buffalo men enter the 2026 season with nine returners and six newcomers. Jacob Brink headlined for the men last season, earning All-MAC First Team honors as the Bulls hosted conference championships. The men's program had its best score at MAC Championships since 2020, placing fourth with 97 points. The men then placed 16th at the NCAA Northeast regionals, with 38 teams in attendance. Brink was once again the team's top finisher, taking 51st of 263 runners with a 10k time of 30:33.5.
Both the men and women will compete at St. John Fisher on Friday night. The Buffalo women return to the competition in which they won to open the 2025 campaign. The team took eight of the top 14 spots to win the event, also having the top two finishers in Cassidy and Klock.
