
Bulls Set To Compete at Geneseo Early Season Invitational This Friday & Saturday

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo track and field program is set to compete at SUNY Geneseo's Early Season Invitational this week, scheduled for Friday and Saturday. The Bulls aim to continue their momentum at the local meet, with the program already posting 10 performances this season that joined the UB outdoor record book.
FRIDAY
The Bulls begin the action at Geneseo with three throwing events on Friday afternoon. Kenneth Gulloso and Julian Vitucci begin the competition in the men's hammer throw at 2 p.m. Gulloso posted a mark of 53.14 meters in the program's season-opening meet at Richmond, placing third.
Krista Perry and Stella Kapp are scheduled to compete in the women's javelin throw following the conclusion of the men's hammer throw. Kapp's personal best in the event is 35.43 meters, less than two meters shy of the program's all-time top 10 (37.23m).
Bernice Balk, Faith Hamilton and Loretta White close out day one's events with the women's hammer throw. White leads the Bulls in the event through one meet this season, posting a mark of 49.25 meters to take second place at Richmond. The junior was just shy of her personal record in the event (49.44m).
SATURDAY
The Buffalo throwers are set to open day two, with Maria Akalonu and Balk scheduled to compete in the women's discus throw at 10 a.m. Akalonu's personal best of 44.30 meters from last year's outdoor season nearly joined the UB outdoor record book (47.02m).
Bryson Bodner and Dominic Weatherly will open the men's throwing events with the shot put at 10 a.m. Bodner's personal record in the event is 16.01 meters.
Mitch Diamond and Nicalis Williams are set to participate in the men's long jump scheduled for 11 a.m. Last week at North Carolina State's Raleigh Relays, Williams joined the program's all-time rankings in the triple jump, posting a mark of 14.59 meters to take 10th in UB outdoor history.
Linnea Neureuther and Amari Hall are scheduled to compete in the women's triple jump at 2 p.m. Neureuther's personal record mark of 12.27 meters in the event ranks ninth in program history.
Brianna Carter and Ella Reilly will compete in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase at 11:30 a.m. to begin the Bulls' participation in track events. Carter's personal best time of 11:07.27 is less than three seconds shy of the program's all-time top 10 (11:04.50).
Michael Parks continues his outdoor season following a new personal record of 14.20 seconds set last weekend at the Raleigh Relays. Parks' time rose the UB outdoor rankings to fourth in program history. The senior will compete in the event's preliminary rounds at 12:35 p.m.
Rylee VanAlstine and Lindy Betrus are scheduled to participate in the 400-meter hurdles, beginning at 4:25 p.m. VanAlstine posted a time of 55.00 seconds in the program's season-opening meet to rank 10th in UB outdoor history.
The Bulls will close out the meet with the women's 4x400-meter relay. The Buffalo women posted a time of 3:50.58 at NC State. The program's all-time record in the event is 3:39.35.
