AKRON, Ohio – The University at Buffalo softball team (18-25, 7-11 MAC) lost to the Akron Zips (23-19, 15-3 MAC) in their final game of the series on Sunday afternoon in five innings, 12-4.
GAME 3
Buffalo came out of the gates with their bats on fire. Bri Delaney capitalized on a bases loaded situation as she cashed in an RBI single to take the early 1-0 lead. Bella Smithson walked in another run as Abbey Nagel forced in a run on a ground out. Leading 3-0, the Zips cut the deficit to 3-1 off an RBI single to left.
The game quickly shifted in favor of the home team as a 2-RBI single tied the game at 3. The ensuing batter gave Akron the lead on a single up the middle. After a pitching change, a 3-run home run put Akron in front 7-3.
Akron added to their lead in the third with a lead off home run to make it 8-3.
Buffalo got back on the board as Sophia Avin singled to left filed scoring Nagel. 8-4 would be the closes the game would get as Akron walked off the game in the bottom of the fifth as they scored four runs on six hits to win, 12-4.
Reagan Terwilliger went 2-for-2 with a run scored.
The Bulls are back in action on Wednesday as they'll host the Le Moyne Dolphins for a doubleheader at 1 p.m.
