BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo softball team (6-14, 0-0 MAC) will host the Niagara Purple Eagles on Sunday at Nan Harvey Field. First pitch is scheduled at 1 p.m.
The Bulls went 2-3 last weekend at the James Madison Invitational. Emily Gorman had an exceptional weekend as she led the Bulls with a .533 batting average and .650 on base percentage. Her 8 hits were a team high as she racked up 4 doubles on the weekend. Her 5 RBIs were tied for a team best, as well. Gorman helped Buffalo pick up a pair of wins over Hofstra. Reagan Terwilliger also had 5 RBIs as she tallied five singles and a home run.
The Bulls put up four home runs last weekend courtesy of Terwilliger, Bri Delaney and two from Bella Smithson.
On the season, Gorman has a team-high 26 hits. The only other two Bulls with 20+ hits on the season are Terwilliger (23) and Nagel (21). As a team, they've stolen 27 bases, almost halfway to their total from last year when they recorded 57.
Niagara enters the game with a 0-2 record as they dropped both their contests to Binghamton on Friday. The Purple Eagles are led by Carmella Phelan who recorded two hits so far. Jolyn Gibbs, Sophia Chemotti and Sophia Marrero also have a hit on the season.
