
Track & Field To Compete at Raleigh Relays This Thursday Through Saturday

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo track and field program is continuing its outdoor season at North Carolina State University this week, competing at the Raleigh Relays from Thursday through Saturday. The Bulls enter the second meet of the season following a successful start at the University of Richmond.
Vassi Klock and Rylee VanAlstine headlined in the Bulls' season-opener, with Klock taking the ninth spot in program history in the 800-meter (2:10.98) and VanAlstine earning the 10th spot in the record book in the 400-meter hurdles (55.00). The two are set to compete again this week at Raleigh, alongside athletes in the distance, jumps and sprints programs.
THURSDAY
The men's distance program will open the competition for the Bulls on Thursday, with seven Buffalo runners scheduled to compete. The Bulls will participate in four events: the 1,500-meter, 3,000-meter steeplechase, 5,000-meter and 10,000-meter.
Aidan Norris is expected to compete in the men's 1,500-meter, scheduled to start at 4:15 p.m. The sophomore joined the program's all-time outdoor rankings in the event last year, with a time of 3:50.35 at MAC Outdoor Championships to rank ninth in UB history.
Collin Stafford set a new school record in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase last spring, posting a time of 8:55.94 at conference outdoor championships. The sophomore will compete again in the event in Raleigh, with heats scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.
FRIDAY
The program is scheduled to have 22 athletes compete across 10 events on Friday to continue the action in Raleigh.
Michael Parks is expected to make his debut in the 110-meter hurdles. The senior defended his Mid-American Conference title in the 60-meter hurdles at indoor conference championships, posting a school record time of 7.83 seconds. Gemma Galligani, Krista Perry and Linnea Neureuther are scheduled to compete in the women's 100-meter hurdles. Galligani joined the UB outdoor rankings last spring, posting a time of 13.95 in the event at the MAC Outdoor Championships. Heats of the hurdles events are expected to begin at 11:45 a.m.
Kara Moran is scheduled to make her season debut in the triple jump at 10:30 a.m. Moran rose to fifth in program outdoor history last spring with a mark of 12.47 meters at the UCF Knight Invite.
SATURDAY
The action concludes on Saturday in Raleigh with 18 Bulls competing in 11 events. Moran opens the day with the long jump at 10:45 a.m. The junior ranks fourth in program outdoor history in the event (6.08m). Micah Blair will compete in the men's long jump, scheduled for 1:45 p.m.
Action on the track begins with the 4x100-meter relays for the men and the women. The Buffalo women won the event at Richmond last weekend, posting a time of 46.89 seconds, under two seconds shy of the program's all-time outdoor record (45.29). The men placed second in the event with a time of 40.99 seconds, nearly a second shy of the program's all-time outdoor record (39.88).
Neureuther and Galligani will compete in the women's 400-meter hurdles, expected to begin at 1:40 p.m. The duo ranks inside the program's all-time top 10 for the event, with Neureuther in third (1:00.31) and Galligani in 10th (1:02.30).
