Bulls Host Kent State for First Home Conference Series of 2026

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo softball team (8-16, 1-2 MAC) will begin a five game homestand starting when they host the Kent State Golden Flashes (11-11, 3-0 MAC) this weekend. The series will begin on Friday at noon followed by a doubleheader on Saturday with first pitch at 1 p.m. The entire series will be streamed on YouTube.
The Bulls opened conference play last weekend at Northern Illinois where the Huskies won the series, 2-1. Ardyn Hopf had a stellar weekend in DeKalb as she hit .600 with six hits. Of her six hits, four were extra base hits. She hit three doubles and her first career collegiate home run leading to a team-high 8 RBIs and a 1.200 slugging percentage. She tallied a 1.867 OPS on the weekend. The Bulls cranked five home runs against the Huskies, four of which in one game. This included the Bulls hitting three consecutive home runs for the first time in program history.
Nicole Allen and Abbey Nagel also recorded six hits against the Huskies. Nagel added seven RBIs on the weekend, the second most on the team behind Hopf. Three of her hits went for extra bases, two of which being home runs. In her career, she's up to 38 doubles, the fourth most in program history.
On the season, seven Bulls have double figure RBIs with Bri Delaney leading the way with 19. Nagel and Bella Smithson have 18 each as Hopf (15), Emily Gorman (11), Allen (11) and Reagan Terwilliger (10) round out the top contributors.
In the circle, Olivia Russ leads the way with a 4-7 record and a 6.51 ERA. She has 21 of Buffalo's 52 strikeouts in 52.2 innings pitched.
Kent State enters the weekend with an 11-11 overall record and a perfect 3-0 start to conference play. Last weekend they swept the UMass Minutewomen at home. Following their performance, Aarlyn Nogay was named MAC Player of the Week as she led the team in stolen bases, runs, hits and batting average. On the season, Ashlyn Prter leads the Golden Flashes with a .349 batting average as she's tallied 22 hits this year. Caleigh Shaulis has a team-high 21 RBIs including seven home runs and 47 total bases. In the circle, Meadow Ferri has a 5.18 ERA as Riley Miller has 27 strikeouts in 61.1 innings pitched.
