BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo track and field program is set to compete at the Kent State Doug Raymond Invitational this Friday and Saturday. The Bulls continue an indoor season that has rewritten the program record books, adding 26 performances to the all-time UB indoor ranks.
Brady Hughes will open the action on Friday, competing in the men's heptathlon. Hughes posted a season-best score of 4,638 in the event last year, nearly joining the UB indoor record book (4,696). The men's heptathlon will feature the 60-meter dash, long jump, shot put and high jump on day one. The event will then conclude on Saturday with the pole vault and 1,000-meter run.
Stella Kapp and Akuot Kuany are scheduled to compete in the women's high jump on Friday. Kapp ranks second in the Mid-American Conference this season with a mark of 1.75 meters. The sophomore tied her season-best mark at the Houghton December Classic. Kuany's personal best indoor mark of 1.75 meters is tied with Kapp for fourth in UB indoor history. The sophomore's season-best mark of 1.70 meters ranks eighth in the conference this season.
On the men's side of the high jump, Daniel Richardson and Tyler Norton are expected to compete for the Bulls. Richardson set a new personal best mark of 2.00 meters earlier this season, nearly cracking the UB indoor record book (2.05m). Norton also posted an indoor personal best this season of 1.97m at the Houghton December Classic.
Allison Newton and Vassi Klock are scheduled to compete in the women's 800-meter on Saturday. Juliette Salazar joined the program's indoor ranks in the event last week at Penn State, taking the eighth spot with a time of 2:12.39. Newton set a new indoor best of her own at Penn State with a time of 2:12.99, but fell just short of the UB record book (2:12.81). Klock holds the ninth spot in indoor program history, with a personal best of 2:12.62 set in 2024. The two look to make their mark on program history on day two at Kent State.
