BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo track and field program returns to Penn State University for the second time this indoor season, competing at the Penn State National Open. The action is scheduled to begin on Friday at 3:30 p.m. and continue on Saturday at 10:15 a.m.
The Bulls return to Penn State after competing there just two weeks ago. The program had a day of competition to remember, having seven performances that entered the program's all-time ranks. The Bulls look to continue that momentum, with all seven of those athletes competing again this week.
FRIDAY
The first day of competition features 15 events that the Bulls are scheduled to compete in.
Gemma Galligani is expected to compete in the 60-meter hurdles, an event in which the junior rose the program ranks in earlier this season. Galligani posted a time of 8.64 seconds at the Akron Open, taking seventh in the UB indoor record book and ranking sixth in the Mid-American Conference. The junior also joined the 300-meter dash ranks at Penn State earlier this season (6th, 42.48).
Aidan Norris is scheduled to compete in the 800-meter. The sophomore last competed at the Nittany Lion Challenge, where he set a new indoor 800-meter personal best of 1:51.97. Norris earned the fourth spot in UB indoor history and sits at third in the conference.
Noah Brightman returns to Penn State to compete in the mile, the same track that he set a new personal record on just two weeks ago. The senior earned the ninth spot in indoor program history with a time of 4:10.58, also ranking seventh in the MAC. Brightman will be joined by Vincent Guaresimo, another Buffalo runner who joined the program's ranks in the event this season (7th, 4:09.97).
On the women's side of the mile, Vassi Klock returns to action at Penn State where the senior set a personal best of her own. Klock's time of 4:52.44 earned the fourth spot in UB indoor history and ranks eighth in the conference.
Micah Blair is scheduled to compete in the men's long jump. The sophomore ranks first in the MAC this season with a mark of 7.38 meters. Blair's jump took the fifth spot in program history.
SATURDAY
The second day of competition is set to feature 17 events that the Bulls are set to compete in.
Juliette Salazar is expected to open the day of competition for the program, participating in the women's 600-meter at 10:15 a.m. Salazar's personal best time of 1:35.44 in the event ranks fifth in UB indoor history, set at Penn State just two weeks ago.
Stella Kapp and Akuot Kuany are scheduled to compete in the women's high jump at 10:30 a.m. Kapp ranks second in the conference with a mark of 1.75 meters this season. The mark tied the sophomore's personal best, which is also tied with Kuany's indoor best, both ranking fourth in UB indoor history.
Braden Dunn and Sophia Sampson will compete in the 200-meter dash. Dunn's season best time of 21.88 ranks seventh in the conference. Sampson's personal best of 25.08 was set earlier this season at Akron, taking the 10th spot in program history.
