
Stoeffler’s School Record Highlights Among Bulls’ Personal Records at Raleigh Relays

RALEIGH, NC – The University at Buffalo track and field program competed in North Carolina State's Raleigh Relays this past Thursday through Saturday, one of the nation's premiere outdoor meets of the weekend.
The Bulls brought their best, recording four personal records that joined the all-time UB record book. Luke Stoeffler highlighted the weekend for the Bulls, setting a new school record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
THURSDAY
On the opening night of the competition, the Bulls had three performances join UB outdoor history.
Aidan Norris opened day one a strong note for the Bulls, finishing the 1,500-meter in 3:51.03, a new UB outdoor freshman record. Norris' time was less than half a second shy of reaching the all-time UB outdoor top ten (3:50.86) in his outdoor event debut. The freshman's time surpassed Brian Crimmins who held the freshman record in the event since 2013 (3:51.75).
Stoeffler continued the program's momentum in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, setting a new school record in the event with a time of 9:02.16. Stoeffler's time beat his previous personal record by over eight seconds (9:10.40) and surpassed the program's school record that Alec Peinkofer set in 2014 (9:03.45).
Matt Gensel closed out the night for the Bulls by rising the all-time program ranks in the men's 10,000-meter. Gensel's time of 29:49.34 moved to fourth in UB outdoor history, beating his previous personal record by over 20 seconds (30:10.96).
Freshman Collin Stafford also competed for the Bulls, making his debut in the outdoor 5,000-meter. Stafford finished the event with a time of 15:00.80.
FRIDAY
Graduate transfer Rachel Hirschkind made her debut with the Bulls on the national stage, setting a new personal record in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase. The graduate student's time of 10:55.85 joined the UB outdoor leaderboard to rank fifth all-time.
SATURDAY
Justin Kleppel and Micah Blair closed out the weekend of competition for the Bulls with the men's long jump.
Blair placed 21st with a mark of 6.72 meters. Kleppel followed in 22nd, posting a mark of 6.62 meters, just about a tenth of a meter shy of his personal record in the event (6.76m).
