Bulls Fall in Series Opener to Central Michigan

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo softball team (5-21, 2-5 MAC) fell to the visiting Central Michigan Chippewas (12-15, 4-2 MAC) in Friday afternoon's series opener, 8-2.
The Bulls and Chippewas were scoreless through two innings of play. Central Michigan struck first in the third with a pair of runs. The Bulls tied the game courtesy of a 2-RBI double to right center by Abbey Nagel that scored Emily Gorman and Talynn Williams.
That was all the Bulls could do against stellar pitching from Central Michigan's Madelyn Wallace who went the distance for the Chippewas.
The score remained 2-2 until the top of the sixth until the Chippewas hit a solo home run to left. They went on to add 4 more runs off a base clearing triple and an error. In the top of the seventh they hit an additional solo home run to hold an 8-2 lead.
Buffalo went down with a fight as Reagan Terwilliger hit a single up the middle in the seventh.
The Bulls are back in action tomorrow at 1 p.m. with a doubleheader against the Chippewas.
