BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo softball team (5-22, 2-6 MAC) fell to the visiting Central Michigan Chippewas (13-15, 5-2 MAC) on Saturday afternoon in five innings, 9-0.
Timely hitting was the story line of the afternoon as the Chippewas scored 9 runs on 11 hits and an error. The Bulls could only muster 2 hits on the day.
The Chippewas got on the board early with a solo home run in the first inning. Emily Gorman hit a lead off single for the Bulls in the bottom of the first inning. That was the most the Bulls were able to do in the bottom half.
In the second inning, Central Michigan added to their lead to make it 2-0. The Chippewas scored 2 runs in the fourth on a double to center field that extended their lead to 4-0. They went on to score 5 more runs on the day for the road win.
The second game of the doubleheader was called due to inclement weather in the bottom of the second inning.
The Bulls are back in action on Tuesday as they host the St. Bonaventure Bonnies for a doubleheader at 1 p.m.
