Bulls Fall in Series Finale to Ohio

ATHENS, Ohio – The University at Buffalo softball team (5-20, 2-4 MAC) fell to the Ohio Bobcats (20-7, 3-0 MAC) in Saturday afternoon's series finale, 6-2.
For the second straight day, the Bulls struggled to get the bats going. They finished the game with 4 hits, but were getting no-hit by Ohio's Mikie Lieving into the fifth inning. She went 6 innings in the circle for the Bobcats.
Ohio got on the board in the first inning as they put up 5 runs. The Bulls scored in the fifth inning on a Mia Mitchell single. The Bobcats extended their lead to 6-1 in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI double to left center.
With two outs in the top of the sixth, Ardyn Hopf hit Buffalo's lone extra base hit on the afternoon with a triple to right center. She would then score in the next at bat as Isabella Smithson hit an RBI single up the middle.
The score held as the Bobcats came away with the 6-2 home victory.
The Bulls are back in action next Friday as they host the Central Michigan Chippewas at Nan Harvey Field for a three-game series. The MACtion will start at 3 p.m. on Friday with a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.
