Bulls Sending Eight Swimmers to CSCAA National Invitational Championships

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo swimming and diving program is sending eight swimmers to Ocala, Florida for the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association National Invitational Championships this Thursday through Saturday.
The eight qualified swimmers from Buffalo that are making the trip to compete are Nicole Aguilar, Karen Austin, Isabella Forsman, Elise McCaul, Mia Naccarella, Ava Pauly, Grace Rider and Vivian Roy.
Naccarella enters the National Invitational Championships after earning two silver medals at Mid-American Conference Championships in the 100-yard backstroke (52.40) and the 200-yard backstroke (1:55.28). The fifth-year broke school records in both events, with her 100-yard backstroke to lead off the 400-yard medley relay (52.39) surpassing her previous school record of 52.43. Naccarella earned All-MAC First Team honors.
Forsman heads to Florida following a breakout first-year campaign at conference championships. The freshman began the weekend by swimming on the silver medal 800-yard freestyle team to earn the first MAC medal of her career. Forsman's time rose to sixth in the program's top ten. On day three, the freshman earned her second medal in the 400-yard individual medley. The first-year swimmer set a new record in the event with a time of 4:16.60 to rank third in program history. Forsman earned All-MAC First Team honors.
Rider earned All-MAC Second Team honors qualifying for the finals in three different individual events. On day two, the sophomore finished sixth in the 200-yard individual medley finals with a new personal best time of 2:01.92, ranking ninth in program history. On the third night, Rider took sixth place in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:02.40. The sophomore set a new personal record of 1:02.23 in the preliminary round to remain fourth all-time in the program ranks. Rider closed out conference championships by taking sixth in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:16.17. The sophomore's preliminary round time of 2:15.53 ranks fourth in program history.
McCaul was the final Buffalo athlete to earn All-MAC Second Team honors. The junior finished seventh in the 500-yard freestyle with a new personal record time of 4:55.51. McCaul's time fell just shy of the program's all-time top ten by less than half of a second (4:55.05). The junior placed sixth in the 400-yard individual medley finals on night three with another personal record time of 4:23.67 that was just under two seconds shy of reaching the program record book (4:22.25). McCaul then took eighth in the 1650-yard freestyle with a third personal best time of 17:09.47.
Below is the competition's schedule of events for each day. All preliminary rounds will begin at 9:30 am. All finals rounds are scheduled for 6 pm.
THURSDAY
200 Freestyle Relay, 50 Backstroke, 500 Freestyle, 50 Butterfly, 200 Individual Medley, 50 Breaststroke, 50 Freestyle and 400 Medley Relay.
FRIDAY
200 Medley Relay, 400 Individual Medley, 100 Butterfly, 200 Freestyle, 100 Breaststroke, 100 Backstroke and 800 Freestyle Relay.
SATURDAY
1650 Freestyle, 100 Individual Medley, 200 Backstroke, 100 Freestyle, 200 Breaststroke, 200 Butterfly and 400 Freestyle Relay.
