Bulls Fall to Tennessee State and North Dakota

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The University at Buffalo softball team (2-11, 0-0 MAC) fell to the Tennessee State Tigers and the North Dakota Fighting Hawks on Saturday, 12-2 and 7-6, respectively.
GAME 3 VS. TENNESSEE STATE
The Bulls jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first as Isabella Smithson hit an RBI single to center that scored Lily Lauck. The lead didn't last long as the Tigers hit a two-run homer to take a 2-1 lead.
Buffalo tied the game at 2 as Emily Gorman singled to right scoring Reagan Terwilliger. Tennessee State scored 6 runs in the second inning to take an 8-2 lead. The barrage continued as the Tigers grabbed runs in the third and fifth to take a 10-2 mercy win.
GAME 4 VS. NORTH DAKOTA
The Fighting Hawks snatched the early 1-0 lead in the first inning, but the Bulls responded with a run in the bottom of the second as Talynn Williams hit an RBI single. Isabella Smithson scored for the Bulls.
In the third, North Dakota scored 4 runs to take a 5-1 lead. The Bulls answered right back as Smithson's bat stayed hot. She hit a 3-run home scoring Abbey Nagel and Emily Gorman. Reagan Terwilliger tied the game at 5 as she scored on a fielder's choice.
North Dakota took a 6-5 lead in the fifth on a solo home run. They extended their lead at 7-5 in the top of the seventh on an RBI single. Smithson hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh to cut into the Fighting Hawks' lead, but the Bulls came up short as they fell, 7-6.
The Bulls are back in action tomorrow at 10 a.m. against Tennessee State.
