Bulls Fail to Launch at Toledo
2/4/2025 10:24:00 PM | Men's Basketball
TOLEDO, Ohio – The University at Buffalo men's basketball team (7-15, 2-8 MAC) fell to the Toledo Rockets (14-8, 8-2 MAC) on Tuesday evening, 87-74.
Tyson Dunn led the Bulls with 19 points and 6 assists. He finished with 3 made threes on the night. Freshman Tim Oboh set career-high marks in points (16) and rebounds (7). Noah Batchelor heated up from deep as he made 3 threes to go with his 13 points. Bryson Wilson rounded out the double-digit scorers for the Bulls with 12 points. Ryan Sabol grabbed a career and game-high 8 boards.
A slow offensive start by the Bulls put them behind the eightball. Down 11-2 just over three-minutes into the contest was tough to overcome as Toledo played well on both ends of the floor at the start. Once Buffalo found their groove, they managed to cut the Rockets' lead down to 7 with just under a minute and a half to go until the half at 36-29. With under 10-seconds until both teams go to the locker room, Dunn drilled a three to cut Toledo's lead to 40-32. With time dwindling, the Rockets made a layup to go back up 10 at the half.
The Bulls went on to outshoot the Rockets in the second half, 51.7% to 41.9% from the floor. Buffalo never gave in and battled to the end. With just under four-minutes remaining in regulation, the Bulls trailed Toledo, 76-65. Toledo went on to take the contest, 87-74.
The Mid-American Conference will take a break from conference play on Saturday as Part II of the MAC-Sun Belt Challenge is scheduled. The Bulls will host the Georgia State Panthers (8-15, 4-7 SBC) at 2 p.m. on ESPN+.
