Bulls Host Kent State on Pride Night at Alumni Arena on Wednesday

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's basketball team (20-4, 9-3 MAC) welcomes Kent State on Pride Night at Alumni Arena on Wednesday at 6pm.
The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ with Paul Peck (play-by-play) and Heather Prusak (color) announcing and can be heard on 1520 AM and the Varsity Network with Jack Kreuzer on the call.
This is the 49th overall meeting between Buffalo and Kent State with the Golden Flashes owning a 35-23 series advantage. The Bulls fell 82-73 at the M.A.C. Center on January 5.
Buffalo got back on track with a 79-67 victory over Ohio at the Convocation Center on Saturday afternoon. Four Bulls scored in double figures on the day, led by Chellia Watson who scored a game-high 21 points to go with five rebounds and four assists. Sophomore Kirsten Lewis-Williams put forth a stellar effort on both ends of the floor as she recorded 16 points and a career-high eight steals and seniors Noelani Cornfield and Terah Harness also scored in double figures with 12 and 10 points, respectively.
The Bulls, one of two MAC teams ranked in the top 15 of the Mid-Major Top 25, are led offensively by Watson who is averaging 20.1 points per game. Lewis-Williams is averaging 13.9 points per game while leading the team in rebounding (5.9 rpg) and Cornfield is also averaging in double figures at 10.5 ppg, while leading the team and ranking 28th nationally in assists per game (5.2).
As a team, the Bulls lead the league in scoring margin (+16.5), 3FG defense (.271) and turnover margin (+8.5) while also ranking in the top three in scoring offense (75.2), scoring defense (58.8), field goal percentage (.451), field goal defense (.374), assists (16.5), steals per game (10.6) and free throw percentage (.769).
Kent State is 16-9 overall and 8-4 in league play after falling to Miami (OH) 64-62 on Saturday. Kent State is balanced offensively with three players averaging in double figures, led by senior guard Jenna Batsch who is averaging 16.5 points per game while also leading the team in assists (4.1 apg). Mya Babbitt (12.1 ppg) and Janae Tyler (11.3 ppg) are also averaging in double figures while Bridget Dunn is leading the team, and ranks second in the MAC, in rebounding (9.8 rpg).
The Golden Flashes lead the MAC in scoring offense (75.6), three-pointers made per game (8.2) and assists per game (16.6) while ranking in the top three in scoring margin (+12.4), field goal percentage (.446), field goal defense (.375), three-point field goal percentage (.362), 3FG defense (.276), total rebounding (40.6), and rebounding margin (+7.8). Kent State has been among the best free throw shooting teams in the country this season as they rank second nationally in free throw percentage (.803). They also rank 30th in free throws made per game (14.5).
Up next, Buffalo will close out the month with a pair of road games, beginning on Saturday, February 22 as they travel to Oxford for a clash with the Miami (OH) RedHawks. Tipoff from Millett Hall is set for 1pm.
