BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo women's basketball team travels to the Lone Star State for the ACU Christmas Classic, hosted by Abilene Christian, this weekend. The Bulls will take on Tarleton State on Friday before facing off against the Wildcats on Saturday.
Friday's game will be streamed on WAC International and Saturday's contest will be broadcast on ESPN+ with Andy Penney (play-by-play) and Jaden West (color) announcing. Both games can also be heard on 1520 AM and the Varsity Network with Vinnie Christiano III on the call.
This is the first overall meeting between Buffalo and both Tarleton State and Abilene Christian. The Bulls are 2-1 all-time against Texas schools and this is only UB's second trip to the Lone Star State in its Division I era.
Buffalo fell 71-58 at Binghamton on December 6. The Bulls were powered by a trio of freshmen as Aniya Rowe led the Bulls in scoring for the second straight game with 17 points, Meg Lucas recorded her third double-double of the season with 14 points and 15 rebounds and Ella Corry scored in double figures for the first time with a career-high 14 points on an efficient six-of-nine shooting from the floor.
Lopez leads the Bulls in scoring at 11.9 points per game. She has scored in double figures six times and is second in the MAC in field goal attempts (123) while ranking eighth in field goals made (41). Lucas is second in the league and ranks 15th nationally in rebounding (10.8 rpg). Tarleton State is 5-4 overall after defeating Texas A&M-San Antonio 94-73 on December 7. The Texans were picked to finish sixth in the Western Athletic Conference after coming off a historic season in which they won a Division I program-record 22 games and advanced to the Super 16 of the WNIT. Tarleton State welcomed 12 newcomers on the roster, tied with UB for seventh most in all of Division I. Senior guard Gia Adams leads the Texans in points (11.6) and assists (3.0) per game. Junior forward Shadasia Brackens is also averaging in double figures (10.7 ppg) while leading the team in rebounding (8.1 rpg). They were picked first in the WAC preseason poll after a historic 2024-25 campaign in which they won 22 games and advanced to the Super 16 of the WNIT. ACU returns five of their top six scorers from a year ago, while adding six newcomers. The Wildcats are balanced offensively with four players averaging in double figures, led by 2024 WAC Freshman of the Year and 2025 Preseason Player of the Year Payton Hull, who is scoring 17.9 points per game.
