Bulls Host Fordham on Alumni Day on Sunday
11/15/2025 9:40:00 AM | Women's Basketball
BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's basketball team returns to the friendly confines of Alumni Arena as they host Atlantic 10 foe Fordham on Sunday at 2pm.
It is Alumni Day, where the program will honor the 10th anniversary of UB's first Mid-American Conference championship. Several members of that team are expected to be in attendance.
The game will be streamed on ESPN+ with Paul Peck (play-by-play) and Jared Zeidman (color) announcing and can be heard on 1520 AM and the Varsity Network with Vinnie Christiano III on the call.
It is just the second overall meeting between the two programs. UB defeated the Rams 58-54 at the Fordham Holiday Classic at Rose Hill Gym in 2016.
Buffalo scored 26 fourth quarter points, but the rally came up short as the Bulls fell to Vermont 73-55 at Patrick Gymnasium on Wednesday afternoon. Junior guard Paula Lopez led the Bulls offensively as she recorded a career-high 24 points, including 4-of-9 shooting from behind the arc. Freshman forward Meg Lucas also shined on the day as she scored in double figures for the first time in her young UB career, narrowly missing out on a double-double with 19 points and nine rebounds. As a team, the Bulls found success inside, scoring 34 points in the paint while also forcing the Catamounts into 17 turnovers, which they turned into 18 points, but UB was plagued by costly mistakes themselves on offense as they committed 18 turnovers and Vermont capitalized, scoring 22 points off those miscues.
The Bulls return just two players from last year's squad that won the WNIT Championship for the first time in program history. UB added seven transfers and five true freshmen to the roster. Buffalo will play a challenging non-conference slate, including four opponents that played in the postseason a year ago.
Fordham is 3-1 overall after defeating Stony Brook 58-52 on Wednesday. They were selected 11th in the preseason Atlantic 10 coaches poll after going 15-15 overall and 9-9 in league play a year ago. The Rams return five players, led by Alexis Black who is averaging 21.0 points and 4.0 assists per game while shooting 46% from three-point range. They also added three freshmen and five transfers to the roster. Last season, Fordham led the A-10 and ranked 15th in the nation in offensive rebounding (15.1) and they are continuing to attack the glass as they are averaging 18 offensive boards and 16.0 second chance points per game through four contests this season. The Rams continue to wreak havoc on the defensive end of the floor as they are forcing an average of 20 turnovers per game and are scoring 20.0 points per game off opponent's miscues.
Up next, Buffalo will make the trip to St. Bonaventure for a clash with the Bonnies on Wednesday, November 19 at 6pm.
