CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference announced its weekly awards on Tuesday afternoon, naming Adele Melamud of the University at Buffalo swimming and diving program the MAC Female Diver of the Week.
Melamud, a freshman who joined the Bulls from Kitchener, Ontario, helped the program to defeat Marshall by winning both the one-meter and three-meter diving events. The freshman opened the meet on Friday night by taking first place in the three-meter with a score of 296.60. Melamud was just four-tenths of a point shy of reaching the program's all-time top 10 list. The freshman continued her momentum into Saturday, opening the morning session by winning the one-meter with a score of 269.40.
Melamud has now won all four of the individual diving competitions the Bulls have competed in this season. Both of the freshman's scores from the weekend were season-best performances that rank atop the conference so far.
Melamud is the fifth Buffalo diver in program history to be named the MAC Diver of the Week and the fourth freshman diver to earn the honor in program history.
The Bulls and Melamud continue the season on Saturday, November 1st, at 11 a.m. in the Alumni Arena Natatorium as they go head-to-head with the Toledo Rockets. A full schedule for Buffalo Swimming and Diving can be accessed here.
