Bulls Travel to Kent State for Nationally Televised Contest on Sunday

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's basketball team (12-0, 1-0 MAC) embarks on a two-game road trip, beginning on Sunday as they take on Kent State in a nationally televised contest at 2pm.
The rematch of the 2024 Mid-American Conference Tournament championship game will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network with Matt Shepard (play-by-play) and Jacki Windon (color) announcing and can be heard on ESPN 1520 and the Varsity Network with Jack Kreuzer on the call.
This is the 48th overall meeting between Buffalo and Kent State with the Golden Flashes owning a 34-23 series advantage.
Buffalo made a statement in their league opener as they defeated Central Michigan in wire-to-wire fashion, 81-55, at Alumni Arena on Wednesday. The 26-point win was the largest margin of victory over a MAC opponent in the Becky Burke era. It was a balanced effort as 10 Bulls scored on the day, including three in double figures, led by sophomore Kirsten Lewis-Williams who recorded the first double-double of her career with a game-high 19 points and career-best 12 rebounds. Chellia Watson stuffed the stat sheet with 15 points, seven rebounds and six assists while Alexis Davis added 10 points.
The Bulls, who are one of seven unbeaten teams in all of Division I and are currently ranked sixth in the Mid-Major Top 25, have four players averaging in double figures on the season, led by Watson who is averaging 19.3 points per game. Lewis-Williams (12.5 ppg) and Terah Harness (11.6 ppg) and are also averaging in double figures while Davis is nearly averaging a double-double at 10.6 ppg and 8.1 rpg. Noelani Cornfield is averaging 9.1 points per contest while leading the team and ranking in the top 20 nationally in assists per game (5.8).
As a team, the Bulls lead the league in scoring offense (80.1), scoring defense (56.2), scoring margin (+24.9), field goal percentage (.458), field goal defense (.358), assists (201) and turnover margin (+9.1) while also ranking in the top three in 3FG defense (.268), rebounding (40.8), steals per game (11.4) and free throw percentage (.779).
The Kent State Golden Flashes are 8-5 overall after defeating Bowling Green 81-71 on Wednesday. The Golden Flashes were picked to finish second in the preseason poll after going 21-11 a season ago. They return eight players from their 2024 MAC Championship squad. Kent State is balanced offensively as they have five players scoring in double figures, led by senior guard Jenna Batsch who is averaging 14.2 points per game while also leading the team in assists (4.1 apg). Senior forward Bridget Dunn is leading the team, and ranks second in the MAC, in rebounding (10.3 rpg). Batsch, a preseason All-MAC First Team selection, has scored in double figures in 12 straight games.
The Golden Flashes lead the MAC in total rebounding (43.2), and rebounding margin (+10.0) while ranking in the top three in scoring (77.8), scoring margin (+14.9), three-point field goal percentage (.354), three-pointers made per game (8.0), 3FG defense (.260) and assists per game (17.3). Kent State has been among the best free throw shooting teams in the country this season. The Golden Flashes lead the nation in free throw percentage (.836) and rank 17th in free
throws made per game (15.7).
