
Bulls To Celebrate Senior Day on Saturday Against Akron

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo swimming and diving team is set to host the reigning MAC Champion Akron Zips on Saturday at 11 am in the Alumni Arena Natatorium. The Bulls will celebrate the graduating student-athletes and their contributions to the program as they host senior day, with the team's recognition ceremony beginning at 10:40 am.
This year's graduating class has its name all over the program record books, combining for seven school records, 35 all-time top ten performances, five First-Team All-MAC selections, two Second-Team All-MAC selections, 12 Academic All-MAC selections and two CSC Academic All-District selections.
Honoring The Graduating Swimmers
Sawyer Bosley joined the UB Swim & Dive program ahead of the 2021-22 season. Bosley's impact was seen immediately, winning the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:46.94) as a freshman at MAC Championships. Bosley also took fifth in the 50-yard freestyle (22.90) and sixth in the 100-yard freestyle (49.83). The Canadian native has earned ten medals at MAC Championships throughout her career, with two First-Team All-MAC selections and three individual top ten times in the 50-yard freestyle (22.78), 100-yard freestyle (1:46.12) and 200-yard freestyle (1:46.12). Bosley also was a member of the Bulls' program record relay times in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:16.95) and 800-yard freestyle relay (7:11.06). The senior was named to the 2022-2023 Academic All-MAC team.
Graduate student Mia Naccarella is graduating following five seasons with the program. Naccarella signed with the team ahead of the 2020-21 season, joining her sister Toni Naccarella, one of the program's most decorated swimmers. In her freshman season, the Bulls won the 2021 MAC Swimming & Diving Championships. Since then, Naccarella has rewritten program history in her own right, holding four top ten times in program history, including breaking the school record for the 100-yard backstroke on three different occasions. The graduate student most recently broke her own record in the event at the 2024 Zippy Invite, finishing in 52.43. Naccarella has nine medals at MAC Championships, a First-Team All-MAC selection in 2023 and two Second-Team All-MAC selections. The graduate student was also a member of the Bulls' program record 200-yard medley relay (1:37.58) and the 800-yard freestyle relay (7:11.06). In 2024, Naccarella qualified and competed at the United States Olympic Trials in the 100-meter backstroke (1:02.71). The graduate student earned Academic All-MAC honors for the 2023-2024 season too.
Abigail Malmstrom began her mark on program history in her freshman campaign. The Pennsylvania native finished fifth in the 200-yard backstroke at the 2022 MAC Championships with a time of 1:58.30, earning 14 points for the Bulls. In the preliminary round of the event, the freshman finished with a personal best time of 1:57.45, ranking third all-time in program history. The following year at the 2023 MAC Championships, Malmstrom broke her personal record by almost two seconds, with her time of 1:55.77 being a school record that stands to this day. The then sophomore earned a bronze medal for her performance. Malmstrom also ranks inside the program leaderboards in the 100-yard backstroke (6th, 54.91) and the 400-medley relay (10th, 3:43.09). The senior competed at the 2023 National Invitational Championships, placing 13th in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:58.89. The senior is a two-time Academic All-MAC selection and was named to the CSC Academic All-District team in 2023-24.
Amanda Neeb is another swimmer whose impact on the program was seen immediately. The Connecticut native joined the UB all-time top ten in the 100-yard butterfly (7th, 54.10) and the 200-yard butterfly (8th, 2:00.88) in her freshman year. Neeb broke both personal records in her sophomore season. At the 2023 MAC Championships, Neeb won a bronze medal in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:58.69, a time that still ranks second in program history (1:58.69). The then junior also posted a time of 53.96 in the 100-yard butterfly to move up to sixth in the event all-time. The senior was also a member of the 10th-ranked 400-medley relay time (3:43.09) in program history. Neeb earned Academic All-MAC honors for the 2022-2023 season.
Alicia Wood joined the UB Swim & Dive program in 2021-22. The Rochester, N.Y. native had her best performances at MAC Championships, helping the Bulls to two podium finishes in three seasons. As a junior, Wood swam season-best times at MAC Championships in the 100-yard freestyle (52.08) and 200-yard freestyle (1:52.70). The junior was also a member of the Bulls season-best 400-yard freestyle relay team, earning points for the Bulls with a time of 3:21.80. At the 2024 MAC Championships, Wood was a member of the Buffalo's 200-yard, 400-yard and 800-yard freestyle relay teams. The senior is also a two-time Academic All-MAC honoree.
Honoring The Graduating Divers
Kaylee Donovan joined the UB Swim & Dive program in 2021-22. The Maryland native holds the ninth-ranked score in the program record books for three-meter diving with a score of 295.13 set against Ball State in 2023. As a junior, Donovan finished sixth in the three-meter finals at MAC Championships with a finals score of 269.60 to earn 13 points for the Bulls and be one of four Buffalo divers in the finals round. Donovan also qualified for the NCAA Zone Diving Championships in the three-meter, finishing 24th with a score of 257.30. The senior is a two-time Academic All-MAC honoree.
Presley Dorsett joined the diving team ahead of the 2021-22 season. The Colorado native won a bronze medal in three-meter diving at the 2024 MAC Championships with a score of 279.55. Dorsett also qualified for the NCAA Zone Diving Championships in 2023 and 2024 in both one-meter and three-meter diving. The senior made the finals cut in 2024 in the three-meter to finish 11th with a score of 524.80. Dorsett ranks inside the all-time top ten leaderboards in both the one-meter (5th, 299.60) and the three-meter (8th, 310.90). The senior earned Academic All-MAC honors for the 2023-2024 season.
Marialis Kwak is leaving the UB Swim & Dive program with quite a legacy. Two-time MAC Diver of the Year, 2021-22 MAC Freshman Diver of the Year, three MAC gold medals, two All-MAC First Team selections and 2024 SUNY Athlete of the Year. The New Jersey native also broke the three-meter diving school record just a week ago at the annual UB Diving Invite with a score of 363.04 and ranks third all-time on the one-meter diving program leaderboard with a score of 313.00. Kwak has also qualified for the NCAA Diving Championships twice in her career, and the NCAA Zone Diving Championships four times, slated to compete again this spring in one-meter, three-meter and platform diving. The senior is a two-time Academic All-MAC selection and earned CSC Academic All-District honors for the 2023-2024 season.
The Bulls will honor the historic senior class with the senior recognition ceremony beginning at 10:40 am on Saturday, with the competition against the Zips scheduled for 11 am. All meet information can be accessed here.
