Bulls Travel to Eastern Michigan on Wednesday

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's basketball team (12-1, 1-1 MAC) heads back on the road as they travel to Ypsilanti for a midweek contest at Eastern Michigan on Wednesday at 6:30pm.
The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ with Ryan Wooley (play-by-play) and Claire Dau (color) announcing and can be heard on ESPN 1520 and the Varsity Network with Jack Kreuzer on the call.
This is the 34th overall meeting between Buffalo and Eastern Michigan with the Bulls owing a slim 17-16 series advantage. The Bulls defeated the Eagles in the lone meeting at Alumni Arena last season.
Buffalo fell to Ball State 78-56 at Alumni Arena on Saturday afternoon. Three Bulls scored in double figures, led by Chellia Watson who stuffed the stat sheet, scoring a game-high 22 points to go with seven rebounds and five assists. Sophomore Kirsten Lewis-Williams scored 17 points while notching six rebounds and three steals and Noelani Cornfield added 10 points.
The Bulls, who are currently ranked ninth in the Mid-Major Top 25, have three players averaging in double figures on the season, led by Watson who is averaging 19.9 points per game. Lewis-Williams (13.3 ppg) and Terah Harness (10.1 ppg) are also averaging in double figures while Alexis Davis is averaging just under a double-double at 9.0 ppg and 6.9 rpg. Cornfield is averaging 9.9 points per contest while leading the team and ranking 40th nationally in assists per game (5.1).
As a team, the Bulls lead the league in scoring offense (77.4), scoring margin (+18.6), field goal defense (.360), 3FG defense (.260), and turnover margin (+8.1) while also ranking in the top three in scoring defense (58.8), field goal percentage (.451), assists (16.7), steals per game (10.4) and free throw percentage (.784).
The Eastern Michigan Eagles are 1-13 overall, and 0-4 in league play, after falling to Akron 61-56 on Saturday. The Eagles were picked to finish 11th in the preseason coaches poll and returned six players while adding seven new faces, including five transfers, to this year's squad. Eastern Michigan is led offensively by Sisi Eleko who is averaging a double-double, leading the MAC in both scoring (19.9 ppg) and rebounding (10.7 rpg). Mackenzie Amalia (9.7 ppg) and Olivia Westphal (9.2 ppg) are also main contributors, with the former also leading the team, and ranking second in the MAC, in assists (5.4 apg). Eleko has tallied eight double-doubles on the season which leads the MAC and ranks 14th nationally. She also ranks 11th in the nation in rebounding (10.7) and is in the top 25 in scoring (19.9 ppg). Amalia leads the nation in minutes played (38.0) while also ranking in the top 25 in assists per game (5.4)
The Eagles have recorded at least one made three-pointer in 117 consecutive games, the third-longest stretch since the start of the 1999-00 season. Sahar Nusseibeh is in her first season at the helm of the Eagles after a three-year stint as the head coach at Canisius.
