Bulls Fall to Kent State on Friday

BUFFALO, N.Y. – After a stellar defensive first half, the University at Buffalo men's basketball team (5-10, 0-3 MAC) couldn't come away with a win against the Kent State Golden Flashes (11-4, 2-1 MAC) on Friday evening. The Golden Flashes came away with a 68-49 win in Alumni Arena.
The Bulls reached their largest lead of the game with an 11-9 lead at the 11:08 mark of the first half courtesy of great defense. Buffalo defense held the Golden Flashes to just 1-for-19 (5.3%) from three-point range in the half. At the half, Kent State went into the locker room with a 24-20 lead.
The Golden Flashes' offense came out of the half hot as they padded their lead. In the half, they shot 61.5% from the floor as they scored 24 points in the paint to Buffalo's 4. The Bulls' gritty defense forced 14 turnovers on the night. In back-to-back games they forced over 10 turnovers. This marked their fifth game of the season doing so, tying last year's season total. Buffalo's offense had a tough night from the floor as they were just 7-for-29 from three.
For the third time this season, Tyson Dunn finished with a game-high 10 assists. He added 2 steals on the night. Ryan Sabol led the team with 16 points and knocked down 3 three-pointers to bring his season total to 45. Noah Batchelor scored 9 points with 4 rebounds. Ben Michaels led the team with 5 boards. Kavon Bradford recorded a career-high 2 blocks.
The Bulls are back in action on Tuesday, Jan. 14th as they travel to Bowling Green. The game will tip-off at 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
