Bulls Welcome Niagara to Alumni Arena for Midweek Clash

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo women's volleyball team (3-7, 0-0 MAC) will host the Niagara Purple Eagles (2-6, 0-0 MAAC) on Wednesday at 6 p.m. Ryan Maxwell and Faith Cain will be on the call on ESPN+.
The series between the Bulls and Purple Eagles dates back to the 1976 season when the Bulls won, 3-0. Overall, Buffalo holds a 51-10 record over Niagara. Buffalo welcomes Niagara to Alumni Arena for the first time since Aug. 24, 2018.
Niagara enters the match with a 2-6 overall record with wins over Central Connecticut State and Robert Morris. Defensively, they're one of the best digging teams in the country as they average 16.58 digs per set that ranks 29th in the NCAA. Bella Peroni is third in the nation with 5.65 digs per set, the top mark in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC).
The Bulls will be back on the court after their trip to Columbus, Ohio for the Sports Imports Classic hosted by Ohio State. This will be their first home match since Sept. 1 when the team hosted the Buffalo Invite.
Freshman Luli Arcucci had a career day at Ohio State. She finished with 17 kills on 35 attacks to go with her .314 hitting percentage. She added six digs, four blocks and a total of 19.0 points against the Buckeyes. Manoela Forlin had a career-high 28.5 points against the Buckeyes with 23 kills, three aces and four total blocks.
In the national rankings, Abby Leigh is 43rd in hitting percentage at .393. Katrin Trebichavska continues to be one of the best outside hitters in the country. She ranks 14th in total aces (20), 10th in aces per set (0.69), 93rd in kills per set (3.69), and 124th in total points (131.0).
Following their match against Niagara, the Bulls will travel to Gainesville, Fla. to play the North Texas Mean Green (2-7, 0-0 AAC) and the No. 16 Florida Gators (6-2, 0-0 SEC).
