The Black Knight never trailed in the second set as they shutdown the Bulls' offense. The Bulls had 10 attack errors and four total blocks against. Buffalo hit just .128 in the set. Although never leading in the set, the Bulls got within one point at 19-18.
After tying the match at one apiece, the Bulls settled in and blew by the Black Knights. Buffalo took the third set, 25-12, and held Army West Point to just seven total points in the fourth set. In the final set, the Black Knights hit -.360. Over the last two sets, Army West Point had a hitting percentage of -.164 to Buffalo's .413.
"I felt we really got after it from the service line today and kept Army off balance," stated University at Buffalo Women's Volleyball Head Coach Scott Smith. "The constant pressure in and out of system, attacking, was part of our game plan and we stuck to it. Another huge performance from Katrin solidified her as the MVP of the tournament, but she was well supported from the entire team. We are very happy with the 3-0 start, and even more so with how many players stepped up and performed well."
The Bulls are back in action on Tuesday, Sept. 3 at No. 4 Pittsburgh (2-0, 0-0 ACC). The Panthers picked up wins against No. 10 Oregon and Long Beach State over the weekend.
