Bulls Travel to Akron to Face the Zips on Tuesday

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo softball team (11-18, 3-5 MAC) will travel to Akron, Ohio for a mid-week doubleheader against the Akron Zips (14-18, 5-4 MAC) on Tuesday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. The games can be streamed on ESPN+.
The Bulls are 14-43 (.247) all-time against the Zips. Akron has won the last seven games against the Bulls.
Buffalo enters the weekend with an 11-18 record and are 3-5 in MAC play. UB will look to break their six-game losing streak as they were swept by the top-seeded Miami (OH) RedHawks over the weekend. The Bulls are being led offensively by fifth year Alexis Lucyshyn, who is batting .310 with 27 hits. She's also added a team-high 19 RBIs. Abbey Nagel and Madison Fernimen also have 26 hits each. Fernimen has 14 RBIs for the Bulls. On the basepaths, Mia Mitchell is 8-for-8 on stolen base attempts this season. As a team, UB is 24-25 on stolen base attempts.
In the circle, Lucyshyn is 7-7 with a 2.21 ERA as she has struck out 101 batters in 85.2 innings pitched.
The Zips are 14-18 on the season and are 5-4 in MAC play. Over the weekend, they were swept by the Western Michigan Broncos in Kalamazoo, Mich. Akron is 6-1 at home this season. Offensively, they're led by Meagan Lee who holds a .431 batting average. Sophia Wygast has 20 RBIs and six home runs for the Zips. Haley Croyle is 5-8 in the circle with a 3.77 ERA and 32 strikeouts.
Following Tuesday's doubleheader, the Bulls will host the Ball State Cardinals (15-20, 2-7 MAC) for a weekend series starting on Saturday at 1 p.m.
