
Multiple Bulls Earn Postseason Honors Following MAC Championships

CLEVELAND, OHIO – The Mid-American Conference announced postseason awards for swimming and diving on Sunday, with multiple Bulls receiving honors.
Following two gold medals at MAC Championships in one-meter (313.00) and three-meter diving (312.65), Marialis Kwak earned the title of "Most Outstanding Diver" and First Team All-MAC honors. Kwak has now been named to the All-MAC First Team twice in her career. The junior also earned the Most Outstanding Diver award for the second time in her career after sharing the award with Victoria Franz at last year's MAC Championships. Kwak became the third diver in program history to win two diving gold medals at the same MAC Championship, joining Franz (2022) and Meili Carpenter (2010).
Sophie Meuwissen was named the Freshman Diver of the Year following an impressive performance in both the one-meter and three-meter. The freshman placed first in the consolation round of the one-meter finals on Thursday night with a score of 260.00, finishing ninth overall in a field of 32 divers. Meuwissen then took eighth place in the three-meter diving finals with a score of 236.85. The freshman is the fourth diver in program history to earn the honor, joining Kwak (2022), Louise Bradley (2021), Franz (2020) and Jae Sarkis (2019).
With the Most Outstanding Diver and the Freshman Diver of the Year, Buffalo's Head Diving Coach Russ Dekker earned Co-Diving Coach of the Year honors. Dekker now earns the honor for the fourth season in a row. The Bulls' divers took three of the six podium spots in the conference championship events, as well as five of the top nine spots in three-meter diving and three of the top ten spots in one-meter diving. Dekker shares the honor with Eastern Michigan's Buck Smith.
Clarice Fisher earned Second Team All-MAC honors following a weekend of top finishes in the butterfly events. The graduate student has now been named to the All-MAC Second Team for the fourth consecutive season. Fisher did so by earning a bronze medal in the 100 butterfly on Friday night with a time of 53.09, a new personal best that ranks second all-time in program history. On Saturday, the graduate student placed fourth in the 200 butterfly finals with a time of 1:59.11. Fisher also competed in the consolation finals of the 200 individual medley for Buffalo and the 400 medley relay.
Mia Naccarella also earned Second Team All-MAC honors. . This marks the third time Naccarella has been named to an All-MAC team, following a first team selection last season and a second team selection in 2022. The senior's weekend was highlighted by a silver medal finish in the 100 backstroke and a new school record time of 52.74. Nacarella also brought home a bronze medal in the 200 backstroke with a finals time of 1:56.70. The senior also competed in the 50 yard freestyle and three relay team events for Buffalo.
