Bulls Host Western Michigan for Weekend Series

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo softball team (10-12, 2-1 MAC) is set to open their first game on the newly turfed Nan Harvey Field this weekend as they host the Western Michigan Broncos (10-13, 0-3 MAC). The series will begin on Saturday with a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. The series will wrap up on Sunday at either 11 a.m. or noon. The games will be streamed on the UB Bulls YouTube channel.
Due to weather conditions, the schedule for this weekend may change. If one or none of the games are played on Saturday, a doubleheader will be played on Sunday starting at either 11 a.m. or noon.
Buffalo enters the weekend with a 10-12 record and 2-1 in MAC play. Last weekend, they won their series against the Bowling Green Falcons, 2-1. The Bulls are being led offensively by fifth year Alexis Lucyshyn, who is batting .333 with 23 hits. She's also added a team-high 15 RBIs. Third baseman Madison Fernimen has 13 RBIs for the Bulls. On the basepaths, Mia Mitchell is 8-for-8 on stolen base attempts this season. Abbey Nagel has helped the Bulls' offense as she has seven doubles thus far.
In the circle, Lucyshyn is 6-5 with a 1.65 ERA as she has struck out 84 batters in 63.2 innings pitched. Her 9.2 strikeouts per seven innings is 21st best in the country. With a 5.60 strikeout-to-walk ratio, she's 28th in the NCAA.
The Broncos are 10-13 on the season and are 0-3 in the conference. They are currently on a seven-game losing streak. and have lost their last 13 contests. Last weekend they lost to the Miami (OH) RedHawks on the road. Offensively, they're led by Riley Dittmar who holds a .419 batting average. She also leads the team with 26 hits on the season. Rissa Bajusz is 6-6 in the circle for Western Michigan with a 2.04 ERA.
Following this weekend, the Bulls will host the Niagara Purple Eagles on Tuesday for a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
