Bulls Host Toledo for Saturday Matinee

BUFFALO, N.Y. β The University at Buffalo men's basketball team (4-24, 2-13 MAC) will host the Toledo Rockets (17-11, 11-4 MAC) for a Saturday matinee at 2 p.m. The game can be watched on ESPN+ with Paul Peck and newly inducted Wall of Famer Turner Battle on the call. Over on the Varsity Network App and on 1520 Buffalo/1280 Rochester AM, Josh Whetzel and Bob Gaughan can be heard over the airwaves.

LAST TIME OUT
The Bulls are coming off a 76-64 road loss to the Kent State Golden Flashes on Tuesday evening. Isaiah Adams led the Bulls with 19 points, as he finished 3-for-4 from three-point range. Jonnivius Smith recorded his eighth double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Bryson Wilson scored a career-high eight points as he knocked down all four of his free throw attempts. Fellow freshman Ryan Sabol splashed in a pair of three on the night.

ABOUT THE SERIES
The Bulls trail the all-time series against the Rockets, 14-21 (.400). In just conference play, Buffalo is 11-19 (.367) against Toledo. The Rockets have been victorious in six straight meetings with Buffalo's last win coming on Feb. 14, 2020, with an 83-67 road win. Earlier in the season, the Rockets won in Savage Arena, 77-66, on Jan. 16.

Β β’ With his double-double on Tuesday, Jonnivius Smith became the first Bull to have back-to-back double-double performances since Josh Mballa did so in February and March of 2022. Mballa was also the last Bull to have three consecutive double-doubles. At the 2021 MAC Tournament, Mballa had double-doubles against Miami (OH), Akron and Ohio from March 11-13.

The last Bull to accomplish this was Jeenathan Williams in the 2021-22 season when he scored 554 points.
