Bulls Battle in the Low Country Classic Hosted by the College of Charleston

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo softball team (4-6, 0-0 MAC) is set to begin their third tournament of the 2024 season on Friday. The Bulls will participate at the Low Country Classic hosted by the College of Charleston.
Buffalo enters the weekend with a 4-6 record. Alexis Lucyshyn leads the Bulls offense with a .321 batting average and nine hits. Abbey Nagel has six doubles in the young season with Julia Tarantino adding six RBIs. In the circle, Lucyshyn ranks 21st in the nation in strikeouts per seven innings with 9.7. The mark is good for second in the MAC. Her 0.97 ERA is 54th in the NCAA. She has thrown for four complete games on the year, two of which were good for shutouts.
The Bulls will open the tournament on Friday morning at 10 a.m. against Wofford. The Terriers enter the weekend with a 5-5 record. Abbi Campbell leads the Terriers offensively with a .321 batting average. Hope Ingle has a team-high 10 RBIs thus far. Margaret Axelson leads the team with a 0.47 ERA through 15.0 innings pitched. This will be the first meeting between the programs.
UB will then play the Evansville Aces following their game against the Terriers at 12:30 p.m. Evansville is 0-12 on the year. Marah Wood leads the team with a .250 batting average with Zoe Frossard leading the way with four RBIs. Mikayla Jolly leads the Aces with a 5.58 ERA. The Bulls and Aces will face off again on Saturday at 10 a.m.
Buffalo will play host College of Charleston on Saturday at 3 p.m. The Cougars lead the series against the Bulls, 2-0. The College of Charleston is 4-10 on the season. Brooke Marquez has a team-high .333 batting average for the Cougars with Halle Cannon added 11 RBIs. Marquez has four stolen bases on the season. Payton Lemire is 3-3 with a 2.58 ERA and eight strikeouts.
