Buffalo’s Late Push Falls Short to Daemen in Exhibition

BUFFALO, N.Y. –The University at Buffalo men's basketball team (0-0, 0-0 MAC) nearly completed a last-minute comeback over the crosstown visiting Daemen Wildcats (0-0, 0-0 ECC). The Wildcats pulled out a 67-61 victory in the exhibition on Wednesday evening.
On the night, Tyson Dunn led all scorers with 21 points as he was 9-for-14 from the floor, including making two three-pointers. Sophomore guard Ryan Sabol finished with 11 points, as he went 2-for-3 from beyond the arc. Freshman Ben Micheals added 10 points and two blocks for the Bulls.
Daemen out-rebounded Buffalo on the offensive end, 9-8, which led to the Wildcats outscoring the Bulls in second chance points, 11-4. In the paint, Daemen outscored the Bulls, 36-28.
After an Anquan Boldin Jr. layup, the Bulls took the first lead of the game at 2-0. It was their only lead of the half. Buffalo managed to cut the deficit to one, but down the stretch, Daemen led 28-20 with 3:17 left in the half. Buffalo ended the half on a 6-0 run as they headed to the locker room trailing, 28-26.
Buffalo's run continued into the second half was they took a 30-28 lead with a Dunn layup off a turnover. Daemen answered with a three-pointer, but Sabol made a layup to give the Bulls a 32-31 lead. That was the last lead that the Bulls secured.
The Bulls will begin their regular season on Monday, Nov. 4 at Old Dominion (0-0, 0-0 SBC) as part of the MAC-Sun Belt Challenge. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
