CLEVELAND, OHIO – The University at Buffalo women's swimming & diving team earned both Athlete of the Week honors announced by the Mid-American Conference on Wednesday afternoon, with Mia Naccarella being named Swimmer of the Week and Marialis Kwak taking Diver of the Week.
Kwak earned her second Diver of the Week award this season following event wins in both one-meter (299.18) and three-meter (274.43) diving versus Eastern Michigan. The senior earned the honor just two weeks ago following her performance against Cornell, winning both events with a score of 306.38 in the one-meter and 306.38 in the three-meter.
Kwak has won all four diving events the Bulls have participated in this season. The senior has now earned the MAC Diver of the Week honor both times she has been nominated.
Naccarella was named MAC Swimmer of the Week for the first time in her career. The graduate student won two backstroke events last Saturday against Eastern Michigan, the 100-yard backstroke (55.07) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:02.59). Naccarella was also the lead-off swimmer for the Bulls in their relay event wins, taking the 200-yard medley (1:44.12) and the 400-yard freestyle (3:28.77).
The Bulls continue their action in the pool this Friday and Saturday on the road at Marshall. The competition begins on Friday evening at 4 pm and resumes on Saturday morning at 10 am. More information can be found here.
