Bulls Host the Miami (OH) RedHawks on Tuesday Evening

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo men's basketball team (2-12, 1-1 MAC) will host the Miami OH) RedHawks (6-8, 0-2 MAC) on Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. Paul Peck and Turner Battle will be on the call on ESPN+ as Josh Whetzel and Bob Gaughan can be heard on the Varsity Network App and on 1520 Buffalo/1280 Rochester AM over the airwaves.
LAST TIME OUT
The Bulls are coming off an 82-77 loss against the Western Michigan Broncos on Saturday afternoon. Sy Chatman continued to bully his way to the basket as he scored 24 points. He has now scored 20 or more in five straight and in six of the last seven games. Isaiah Adams scored 15 points as freshmen Ryan Sabol (15) and Anquan Boldin Jr. (13) rounded out the top scorers for the Bulls. Sabol's 15 points tied his career-high in back-to-back games. Of the Bulls' 39 rebounds, Jonnivius Smith snatched a third of them, finishing with a game high 13.
ABOUT THE SERIES
The Bulls trail the all-time series against the RedHawks, 27-28 (.491). Buffalo and Miami (OH) split last season's meetings with both squads winning at home. The RedHawks won 91-80 on Jan. 11 with Buffalo taking a 68-63 win on March 3. This will be the only meeting between the Bulls and RedHawks this season. The last time this instance happened came in the 2017-18 season.

• Tuesday against Miami (OH) will be the last home game before the Bulls start a stretch with seven on nine games on the road.
• Sy Chatman has scored in double figures in every game for the Bulls this season. His 18.8 ppg is good for third in the MAC behind Marcus Hill (Bowling Green, 20.4 ppg) and Tyson Acuff (Eastern Michigan, 22.7 ppg). Chatman has also averages 7.1 rebounds per game which is sixth in the MAC.
• Jonnivius Smith leads the team with 9.5 rebounds per game, which ranks 28th in the NCAA and second in the MAC just behind Akron's Enrique Freeman (13.2).
• Sy Chatman has been dominant over the last seven games. He has scored 20+ in six of the last seven, including the last five games. Over the course of those games, he's averaged 22.4 ppg including three double-doubles. The last Bull to have 20+ points in five of six games was Rodney Pierce in 2009-10 when he did it in eight straight.
• Freshman Ryan Sabol leads the team with 28 made three-pointers on the season. He has made at least one three in 13 of the 14 games of the season.
• Only Sy Chatman has started every game for the Bulls. Ryan Sabol, Anquan Boldin Jr. and Shawn Fulcher are the only other Bulls to play in every game.
• Shawn Fulcher leads the team with 1.57 steals per game, good for third in the MAC. Anquan Boldin Jr. is eighth in the MAC with 1.36 steals per game.
• Sy Chatman and Jonnivius Smith are the only duo in the MAC to each have at least four double-doubles.
• Saturday's game against Western Michigan marked the first game since Feb. 28, 2023, at Northern Illinois, where three Bulls scored 15 or more points. Sy Chatman led with 24 as both Isaiah Adams and Ryan Sabol had 15.
