Bulls Lose to Ball State on Tuesday Evening

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo men's basketball team (2-16, 1-5 MAC) lost to the Ball State Cardinals on Tuesday evening, 87-59. In the loss, Sy Chatman led all players with 27 points. Ryan Sabol had a game-high five assists with Jonnivius Smith and Chatman each grabbing seven rebounds.
The Bulls suffered their largest rebounding margin on the season, getting edged 46-27 at the glass. Another key statistic Cardinals edged the Bulls in was points in the paint, taking that 40-20.
The Bulls were off to a great start to the contest after taking an 11-0 lead and going 4-for-4 from the floor. This caused Ball State to call a timeout. By the 14:23 mark of the half, the Cardinals tied the game at 16 with a fastbreak three-pointer. The momentum swung the Cardinals' way as they closed the half out scoring the Bulls, 29-15.
The second half wasn't kind to the Bulls as they could not catch up to the Cardinals. Buffalo shot 10-for-30 (33.3%) from the floor to Ball State's 18-for-37 (48.6%). Buffalo's 33 three-point attempts was the second-most on the season. Their 10 makes from beyond the arc was the most since the season opener when they made 11.
The Bulls are back in action on Saturday at Eastern Michigan.
