Bulls Travel to Toledo for Tuesday Night MACtion

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo men's basketball team (2-14, 1-3 MAC) will travel to the Toledo Rockets (10-6, 4-0 MAC) for a Tuesday night showdown at 7 p.m. The game can be watched on ESPN+. Over on the Varsity Network App and on 1520 Buffalo/1280 Rochester AM, Josh Whetzel will be on the call.
LAST TIME OUT
The Bulls are coming off a 76-59 road loss to the Akron Zips on Friday evening. Sy Chatman recorded his seventh 20-point performance of the season, finishing with a game-high 23 points and seven rebounds. Isaiah Adams closed the game with 11 points and a career-high eight assists. Jonnivius Smith led all players with two blocks and added seven rebounds.
ABOUT THE SERIES
The Bulls trail the all-time series against the Rockets, 14-20 (.412). In just conference play, Buffalo is 11-18 (.379) against Toledo. The Rockets have ben victorious in five straight meetings with Buffalo's last win coming on Feb. 14, 2020, with an 83-67 road win.
THE BULL-ETIN BOARD
• Tuesday's game at Toledo will be the second game as part of a road stretch for the Bulls. Six of their next eight games will be away from Alumni Arena. Going back to Friday's game at Akron, the stretch was seven of nine games on the road.
• Sy Chatman has scored in double figures in 15 of the 16 games for the Bulls this season. His 18.3 points per game is good for fifth in the MAC and 70th in the NCAA. The fifth year forward also averages 6.6 rebounds per game which is seventh in the MAC.
• Jonnivius Smith leads the team with 9.1 rebounds per game, which ranks 44th in the NCAA and second in the MAC just behind Akron's Enrique Freeman (13.1).
• Isaiah Adams recorded a career-high eight assist performance at Akron on Friday evening. His eight assists were the most since Armoni Foster's 11 against Eastern Michigan on Feb. 7, 2023.
• Sy Chatman has scored 20+ in seven of the last nine games. Over the course of those games, he's averaged 20.67 points per game including three double-doubles. The last Bull to have 20+ points in five of six games was Rodney Pierce in 2009-10 when he did it in eight straight.
• Freshman Ryan Sabol leads the team with 31 made three-pointers on the season. He has made at least one three in 14 of the 16 games of the season. In the MAC opener against Central Michigan, Sabol was 5-for-8 from three-point range which marked a career-high of made threes.
• Only Sy Chatman has started every game for the Bulls. Ryan Sabol, Anquan Boldin Jr. and Shawn Fulcher are the only other Bulls to play in every game.
• Shawn Fulcher leads the team with 1.44 steals per game, good for fifth in the MAC.
• Sy Chatman and Jonnivius Smith are the only duo in the MAC to each have at least four double-doubles.
