Bulls’ Comeback Falls Short in 9-7 Loss

The Bulls jumped out to a 3-0 lead after two innings of play. Alexis Lucyshyn singled to right field allowing Madison Fernimen to score. In the second inning, Abbey Nagel doubled to the right center fence. Kate Vara and Mykaela Martin scored to extend the Bulls' lead to 3-0.
It wasn't long until the Chippewas answered as they scored two of their own in the top of third. With the Bulls still leading 3-2, the Chippewas tied the game on an RBI double in the fourth inning.
In the sixth inning, Central Michigan had runners on first and second. The batter smokes a ball to left field, but is mishandled by the Bulls and allows two runs to score. Lyla Ambrose hit a solo home run to cut Central Michigan's lead to 5-4 after six innings.
Both offenses exploded in the seventh inning as seven total runs were scored on nine hits. The Chippewas scored an insurance run on an RBI single, but then added to it with a two-run home run. Leading 8-4, Central Michigan added to it with another RBI single.
In the bottom half of the inning, Fernimen hit a solo home run to make it a 9-5 ballgame. Abbey Nagel singled with Lucyshyn on deck. Lucyshyn then hit a two-run home run to right field. With the Chippewas leading 9-7, the score would stay as the Bulls' comeback would fall just short.
Lucyshyn started the game for the Bulls, pitching four innings, allowing three runs, one earned run, three walks, and four strikeouts. Julia Tarantino came in relief throwing three innings, allowing six runs, four earned runs, one walk, and three strikeouts.
The Bulls will play a midweek series against the Kent State Golden Flashes on Tuesday and Wednesday in Kent, Ohio.
