
Bulls fall to Central Michigan on Friday Afternoon

BUFFALO, N.Y. β The University at Buffalo softball team (10-30, 4-12 MAC) was swept in the Friday afternoon double header to the Central Michigan Chippewas (23-19, 13-6 MAC), 3-0 and 3-2.

The Bulls dropped the first game of the day, 3-0. The Chippewas got on the board with a solo home run to right field in the top of the first inning.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Bulls tried to build some momentum as Mia Mitchell was able to steal both second and third. She would then get stranded with the Chippewas still leading 1-0. Central Michigan then added two runs in the top of the fifth off timely hitting. Buffalo had no answer as Central Michigan won, 3-0.

Alexis Lucyshyn went the distance as she allowed three earned run, four hits, two walks, and 10 strikeouts. This marked her fifth game of the season striking out at least 10 batters.

In the second game of the afternoon between the Bulls and Chippewas, they combined for 16 hits, a 9-7 advantage in favor of Central Michigan.

The Chippewas took a 1-0 lead in the second inning, but the Bulls tied the game at one in the fourth inning. Lyla Ambrose hit a sacrifice fly allowing Lucyshyn to score.

Central Michigan scored two runs in the fifth inning, taking a 3-1 lead. Buffalo chipped the lead down to one as Lucyshyn had an RBI single to center. Scoring for the Bulls was Avelyn Van Heyst.

The score would remain 3-2 as neither team could add to their total.

Julia Tarantino threw seven innings, allowed three hits, three earned runs, three walks, and eight strikeouts.
