Bulls Host Central Michigan for Weekend Series

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo softball team (10-28, 4-10 MAC) is set to host the Central Michigan Chippewas (21-19, 11-6 MAC). Due to field conditions at UB, the series will be played at the Medaille Sports Complex with a schedule change. The series will open with a doubleheader on Friday starting at 11 a.m. Game two will follow 30-minutes after the completion of game one. The final game will be played on Saturday at 11 a.m.
Buffalo enters the weekend with a 10-28 overall record and 4-10 in MAC play. The Bulls were swept by the Ball State Cardinals last weekend and look to get back in the win column. The Bulls are being led offensively by freshman Abbey Nagel, who is batting .263 with 31 hits. Alexis Lucyshyn has four home runs with Sara Kelly, Abbe Nagel, and Mia Mitchell adding three each. Madison Fernimen (15), Kelly (13), Lucyshyn (12), and Nagel (10) lead the Bulls with double digit RBIs.
In the circle, Lucyshyn is 6-13 with a 2.96 ERA as she has struck out 128 batters in 118.1 innings pitched. The trio of Lucyshyn, Julia Tarantino, and Emily Watters have combined for a 4.30 ERA and 214 strikeouts.
The Chippewas are coming off a sweep of the Western Michigan Broncos and have won five in a row. Central Michigan is 11-6 in MAC play and currently tied for third in the standings. Offensively, they're led by Abbey Tolmie who holds a .426 batting average and 60 hits on the season. Kelsey Alexander has 28 RBIs for the Chippewas. As a team, they have an on base percentage of .369 this year. Kaitlyn Bean leads the team in the circle with an 8-6 record and 3.64 ERA.
Following the series against Central Michigan, the Bulls will travel to Kent State for a midweek series against the Golden Flashes on April 25 and 26.
