Bulls Take On Toledo at MAC Championships

BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo men's tennis team heads to Kalamazoo, MI this weekend for the 2023 Mid-American Conference Championships.
The Bulls enter the conference tournament as the number four seed and will take on top seeded Toledo in the first semifinal match of the day on Saturday at 10am. The hosts, Western Michigan, are the two seed and will face number four seed Ball State in the second semifinal match of the day at 2pm.
Saturday's semifinal winners will play for the conference championship on Sunday at 1pm, with the winner receiving the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Buffalo ended the regular season with a 9-8 overall record and a 5-5 mark in league play. UB has presented a balanced attack in singles action with five players recording double-digit win totals on the season, led by fifth year Simon Wibler who has 19 and freshman Theodoros Mitsakos who has recorded 17 wins. In doubles play, the Bulls have been led by Wibler and Finn Macnamara who own a team-best 19 doubles victories and Cheng Tang and Yu-Shiang Huang who have paired together for 12 wins.
Toledo enters Friday's match with a 16-5 overall record and an 8-2 mark in league play. They swept the final weekend of regular season play with a 6-1 win over the Bulls, followed by a 4-3 victory against Binghamton on Senior Day. The Rockets are led by Pawit Sornlaksup who extended his winning streak to 41 straight matches with a pair of weekend victories. He remains defeated in MAC play and has won 22-straight league dual matches.
