Bulls Complete Season Sweep of RedHawks with 4-3 Win

OXFORD, Ohio – For the second time this season, the University at Buffalo women's tennis team defeated Miami (OH) by a score to 4-3, this time in Oxford on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Bulls improve to 17-5 overall and 3-2 in league action.
The RedHawks took the doubles point with wins at first and second doubles.
The Bulls came alive in singles action winning four of six matches. Seniors Azra Deniz Comlek and Ambre Amat turned in stellar performances, winning by a score of 6-0, 6-4 at second and fourth doubles, respectively, to give Buffalo a 2-1 lead in the match.
The RedHawks retook the lead with wins at first and sixth singles before Gabriella Akopyan overcame a dropped first set to win 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 at fifth singles to tie the match at three. Fifth year Basak Akbas came up big once again, as she earned a pair of tiebreak set victories, 7-6, 7-6, including battling from a 4-1 deficit in the second set, to clinch the match for the Bulls.
Buffalo returns to action on Friday, April 7 at Bowling Green.
