
Bulls Drop Doubleheader at Ball State

MUNCIE, Ind. – The University at Buffalo softball team (10-27, 4-9 MAC) dropped both games in Saturday's doubleheader to the Ball State Cardinals (20-21, 10-9 MAC). The Cardinals won game one 4-1 and took game two by a score of 6-2.
Ball State got on the board early to start the day as they scored two runs in the bottom of the first.
The Bulls got on the board in the fifth inning with Madison Fernimen doubling to right center as Mia Mitchell scored. With Ball State leading 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth, the Cardinals added to their lead with a sacrifice fly. They then scored an insurance run in the sixth inning to take a 4-1 lead.
Fernimen led the Bulls offensively as she had three of the Bulls' four hits. Mitchell recorded the other hit for the Bulls.
Game two didn't go the Bulls way as Ball State won, 6-2. Buffalo's offensive struggles continued as they only mustered four hits. Abbey Nagel, Alexis Lucyshyn, Mia Mitchell, and Lyla Ambrose had a hit each.
The Cardinals put up a 3-0 lead after the second inning. The Bulls made it a game as they scored two runs in the top of the third inning. Nagel and Mitchell each hit solo home runs for the Bulls.
The rest of the game went the Cardinals way as they score three more runs to put the game away.
The Bulls and Cardinals will wrap up their series tomorrow at noon as Ball State celebrates senior day.
