The Bulls Travel to Texas for Red Raider Classic

LUBBOCK, Texas β The University at Buffalo softball team (5-12, 0-0 MAC) is set to play in the Red Raider Classic this weekend. The tournament is hosted by Texas Tech and the Bulls will play a total of five games over the course of three days. Β

Buffalo enters the weekend with a 5-12 record. The Bulls are being led offensively by senior Alexis Lucyshyn, who is batting .278 with 15 hits. She's also added a team-high six RBIs and slugging percentage of .463. Brianna Castro leads the Bulls in on base percentage at .321.

In the circle, Lucyshyn is 4-4 with a 2.84 ERA as she has struck out 58 batters in 50.2 innings pitched. Earlier in the week, Lucyshyn earned MAC Pitcher of the Week honors after last weekend's performances at the PC Invitational. Starting two games for the Bulls, she went 1-1 against Presbyterian and Queens University of Charlotte. Pitching two complete games, she only allowed one earned run. Through the 14 innings pitched, she gave up eight hits while striking out 16. Her opponents hit just .163 against the senior pitcher. Freshman pitcher Emily Watters earned her first win of the season last weekend against Queens University of Charlotte.

The Lobos took the contest, 11-2 in five innings. Offensively, their led by Rachael Hathoot who hold a .367 batting average. She also leads the team with 14 RBIs on the season. Amber Linton leads the Lobos in the circle as she has pitched 72.1 innings of the 138 played. Buffalo will play New Mexico again on Saturday at 11 a.m. ET.

Kailey Wyckoff has an astounding .448 batting average with a team-high 52 total bases. Sage Hoover leads the way with a 2.89 ERA and 49 strikeouts on the year.
UB will then wrap up the weekend against Manhattan (2-7, 0-0 MAAC) on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. ET and Sunday at 10:30 a.m. ET. Marika Deemer leads the Jaspers with a .640 slugging percentage and .360 batting average. She has 16 total bases on the season. Their pitching has struggled as they have a team ERA of 5.89 compared to their opponent's 2.42.
