BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo softball team (6-16, 0-0 MAC) is set to play the St. Bonaventure Bonnies (2-13, 0-3 Atlantic 10) in a Tuesday double header. Game one will start at 2 p.m. with game two starting at approximately 4 p.m.
Buffalo enters the weekend with a 6-16 record and have not been in action since Sunday, March 12 as their weekend series at Western Michigan was canceled due to pending inclement weather. The Bulls are being led offensively by senior Alexis Lucyshyn, who is batting .294 with 20 hits. She's also added a team-high nine RBIs and slugging percentage of .529. On the basepaths, Mia Mitchell is three-for-three on stolen base attempts this season.
In the circle, Lucyshyn is 4-6 with a 2.75 ERA as she has struck out 67 batters in 63.2 innings pitched. Julia Tarantino has appeared in eight games pitching 47.2 innings. Freshman Emily Watters has appeared in eight games including three starts for the Bulls.
The Bonnies are coming off five straight losses, including a three-game series sweep to open Atlantic 10 play by the Saint Louis Billicens. The Bulls and Bonnies split last season's series in Olean. Offensively, they're led by Brooke Bobbey who holds a .324 batting average. She also leads the team with 12 hits on the season. Pitching has been a struggle as the Bonnies hold a 6.81 ERA compared to their opponents' 1.28 ERA. They also allow opponents to have a .351 batting average.
The Bulls will officially open MAC play on Friday with a series against the Toledo Rockets. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
