Bulls Open Two-Game Road Swing at Toledo on Wednesday

BUFFALO, NY β The University at Buffalo women's basketball team (9-10, 4-6 MAC) heads back on the road for a two-game stretch, beginning with a contest at Toledo on Wednesday night at Savage Arena.
The game will be streamed on ESPN+ with Mason Lowry (play-by-play) and Rhett Boyd (color) announcing and can be heard on the radio on ESPN 1520 AM or on the Varsity Network with Jack Kreuzer on the call.
This is the 35th overall meeting between Buffalo and Toledo with the Rockets owning a 25-9 series advantage. The Bulls fell 75-66 at Savage Arena in the lone meeting between the teams last season.
Buffalo fell to an aggressive and hot-shooting Northern Illinois squad on Saturday. UB was led by its "big three" as Zakiyah Winfield recorded a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds while Re'Shawna Stone matched that scoring effort with 19 points of her own and Jazmine Young added 10 points. Freshman Hattie Ogden just missed out on double figures as she made three triples to go with four rebounds and four assists.
Winfield leads the team in scoring, rebounding and assists at 15.1 ppg, 10.7 rpg and 4.0 apg and has recorded 12 double-doubles on the season. She is the top rebounding guard in the nation and ranks in the top 15 in the nation in double-doubles, rebounds per game and defensive rebounds per game. Stone is averaging 15.0 ppg and has scored in double figures in 14 of the last 15 games while adding 5.1 rebounds and 3.4 assists per contest. Young has scored in double figures in 16 of 19 games, including 10 straight, and is averaging 14.1 points and 1.7 assists per contest. The Bulls rank in the top half of the MAC in scoring defense (63.4), rebounding defense (35.6), field goal percentage (43.1), assists per game (12.8), turnover margin (+0.5) and assist-to-turnover ratio (+0.9).
The Toledo Rockets are 17-4 overall and 8-2 in the MAC after defeating Ohio 66-55 on Saturday. Senior guard Quinesha Lockett leads the Rockets in scoring at 17.4 ppg. Sammi Minkonowicz (10.2 ppg) is also averaging in double figures while Khera Goss (9.2 ppg) and Sophia Wiard (9.1 ppg, 4.2 apg) are also main contributors. Toledo is 10-1 at home this season, including a perfect 5-0 in MAC play. Lockett, who was named to the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Award midseason watch list, enters Saturday's game with 1,749 career points, which ranks sixth all-time in program history and ranks No. 35 among active D1 players in career points. The Rockets are second in the MAC and 28th in the country in assist-turnover ratio (1.19), and they also rank 21st nationally and second in the league in fewest turnovers per game (13.0). UT has committed 12 or fewer turnovers in 13 of its 21 games, including four of the last five. As a team, the Rockets rank in the top four in the MAC in both scoring offense (3rd, 73.3) and scoring defense (2nd, 62.2), the only team to rank in the top three in both categories. They also rank third in the league in scoring margin (+11.1). Toledo is the best free throw shooting team in the MAC, ranking first in free throw percentage (78.7%), free throws made per game (16.1), and free throw attempts (20.5).
