Bulls Fall to the Hilltoppers

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo men's basketball team (1-9, 0-0 MAC) lost to the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers (7-3, 0-0 C-USA) on Saturday, 82-65.
Sy Chatman picked up his third double-double of the season after a 21-point, 11-rebound performance. His 21 points mark his UB career high. Anquan Boldin Jr. scored a career-high 19 points. He was 3-for-5 from three-point range, which also marked a career high. Ryan Sabol scored 12 points and added a career-high seven assists.
Lloyd McVeigh snatched a career-high nine rebounds off the bench playing a total of 28 minutes. McVeigh had a career-high four assists in the game.
The slow starts continued for the Bulls as they were only able to tie the game at 2-2 before the Hilltoppers took a 20-6 lead. Buffalo struggled from three-point range which allowed a 21-point halftime deficit. Buffalo was 1-for-17 (5.9%) in the first half with the only make coming with 1:07 before the half. Overall, the Bulls were 10-of-34 (29.4%) from the field in the first half. Western Kentucky led 44-23 at the half.
The Bulls cut the Hilltoppers' lead to 13 with 9:18 remaining after a Bryson Wilson fast break layup. In the second half, Buffalo outscored Western Kentucky, 42-38. The Bulls had a higher shooting percentage than the Hilltoppers, 43.2% to 41.4%.
For the first time this season, the Bulls found themselves on the positive side in points off turnovers, 21-18.
The Bulls are back in action on Thursday, Dec. 21 as they'll play on the road at the Richmond Spiders.
