
Bulls Season Comes to an End at the NIVC Tournament

QUEENS, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo women's volleyball team (23-9, 13-5 MAC) fell to the South Florida Bulls (20-11, 13-6 AAC) in the first round of the National Invitational Volleyball Championship on Friday evening.
Overall, it was a tough showing for the Bulls' offense against USF. UB hit .147 to USF's .329. Despite only having four less kills than USF, UB had 10 more attack errors.
Buffalo had the lead 11 times in the first set, but USF kept it a tight as UB only led by as many as two. Once USF took a 15-14 lead, they didn't trail the rest of the set despite UB tying it three times. With USF in reach of set point at 24-23, Manoela Forlin got a kill to extend the set. USF won the set on the next point, 25-23.
The Bulls had a better offensive attack in the second set as they finished with 14 kills to USF's 13. However, UB had 13 total errors in the set to USF's five. UB led early, but a USF 6-1 run gave them an 18-13 lead. UB tried for a late surge, but the deficit was too great to overcome. USF took the set, 25-19.
In the final set, UB was down 5-1 before tying the set at eight. The Bulls never took a lead as they only scored six more points the rest of the way. USF ran away with the set, winning 25-14.
Katrin Trebichavska finished with a match-high 11 kills as Mandy Leigh had 29 assists. In her final match, Courtney Okwara finished with seven kills on 12 attempts with two errors for a hitting percentage of .417.
