Volleyball Adds a Pair of Signees on Signing Day

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo women's volleyball team added two future Bulls to their squad. Reese Collins and Emma Converse signed their national letters of intent on Wednesday.
Reese Collins // Middle Blocker/Outside Hitter // Sayre School // Lexington, Ky.
Standing at 6'-4", Reese Collins is a five-time letterwinner in volleyball at Sayre. She holds the program record for kills with 1,489. Collins racked up 600 digs and 200 blocks in her time at Sayre. Her accomplishments excelled the team to the school's first district win in 2021 and first regional appearance this season. Sayre went on to claim the All-A Region Championship this season. On the court, her play got recognized as she was a two-time All-District Team member and All-Region Team honoree this past season. In the classroom she is a three-time KHSAA Academic First-Team All-State recipient.
"Reese has a high volleyball IQ and a great ability to read the game," stated Head Coach Scott Smith. "She has demonstrated versatility across the front row through club and high school playing middle, opposite, and outside. She is a great competitor and teammate, eager to further develop her skills. With her imposing height and strength, her presence at the net will raise the competition in our gym and I can't wait until she's in Alumni."
Emma Converse // Outside Hitter/Defensive Specialist // Deer Creek // Edmond, Okla.
The Oklahoma native has winning in her DNA. Emma Converse helped Deer Creek to a third-place finish in the state tournament this season. Last season, the team finished eighth, prior to that they were ranked 25th in the country in the Open class. In her high school career, she finished with 1,036 kills while hitting at .226. She added 713 digs, 120 aces, and 48 assists. While at Deer Creek, she was named All-Conference and All-State Honorable Mention twice, followed by taking home First-Team All-Conference honors her senior year. This season she was an Oklahoma Player of the Year candidate.
"Emma is the type of player that makes a tremendous impact everywhere she plays," added Smith. "Her experience playing in different areas of the country has exposed her to multiple styles of volleyball and she has excelled in each stop. She has great length, consistent ball control, and is highly competitive, all of which add to her great work ethic. She will mesh extremely well with our program, fitting into our offensive and defensive systems seamlessly."
